Vietnam is known as a software outsourcing destination, but in Vietnam, Vingroup, IT business, AI, Fintech and technology industries are growing rapidly.

Today's Vietnam is not an outsourcing destination! Developed with new technology!

Over the years, multinational companies such as Intel, IBM, Samsung Display, Nokia, and Microsoft have outsourced their software development based in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, Vietnam. Vietnam exported $3.5 billion worth of software last year, according to a report from the government's information technology department. It recorded a rapid growth with an increase of 11.6% compared to 2017.

A recent report by TopDev, an IT recruitment agency based in Ho Chi Minh City, found that local companies in Ho Chi Minh City are expanding into various sectors.

Vietnamese companies are investing heavily in AI (artificial intelligence). Most recently, technology giant FPT, telecommunications giant Viettel, and online gaming giant VNG are all developing AI.

Currently, the only means of payment in Vietnam is cash. With the government's intention to expand cashless payments and the development of mobile payments, the Fintech sector is expected to grow.

Ride-on app Grab has advanced electronic payments since last October by partnering with e-payment Moca. Momo, a mobile payment service, was also accessed by 10 million Vietnamese citizens last year.

According to TopDev, there are 64 Fintech-related service companies in Vietnam, 490 in Singapore, 262 in Indonesia and 196 in Malaysia.

According to TopDev, salaries for AI engineers in Vietnam are soaring due to growing demand. An AI engineer or machine learning engineer can earn a maximum monthly salary of $1,678, which is 21% higher than the average salary of an experienced IT developer of $1,318.

According to consulting firm Solidiance, Vietnam's fintech market reached $4.4 billion in 2017 and is expected to grow to $7.8 billion by next year. He added that the rapidly expanding IT business areas in Vietnam are blockchain, software services (SAAS), and e-commerce.
