Grab Taxi (headquartered in Singapore) has expanded its overwhelming market share in Southeast Asia on behalf of Uber Uber. The Vietnamese government is proceeding with a government approval system for rapidly expanding car dispatch services.
GrabTaxi has been approved to operate in Thanh Hoa, Southern Province of An Giang and Central Highlands Province of Dak Nong.
Car sharing is currently allowed in five regions: Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Quang Ninh Northern Province and Khanh Hoa.
In June 2018, the Vietnamese government issued regulations on plans to expand GrabTaxi services to provinces such as Ninh Thuan, Dong Thap and Gia Lai. Grab Vietnam claims that GrabTaxi is a mobile app that anyone can easily use, and wants the restrictions lifted.
