Watami Opens Japanese Restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City
Watami Co., Ltd. announced that it plans to open a Japanese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City in June with Son Kim Group, a local company in Ho Chi Minh City.
On Tuesday, Watami Co., Ltd. and SonKim Group established a joint venture, SonKim Watami (capital: VND 28 billion, $1.2 million).
SonKim Group's food and beverage department, SonKim F&B Co., holds an 85% stake and Watami International, a Hong Kong subsidiary, Watami International, holds a 15% stake.
We will open a restaurant called “Haiwamin” in a luxury apartment in Ho Chi Minh City, and offer grilled food, sushi and tempura. Over 30 restaurants will open in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang over the next 10 years.
Watami currently has 48 restaurants in Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Taiwan, Shanghai, Singapore, Guangzhou, Philippines, South Korea and Cambodia.
A spokesman for Watami said he could not give details of the business plan, but he said he expects high growth in the Vietnamese market.
