According to the constitution announced by the Cambodian government, it states as follows.
- Only Khmer corporations and citizens of Khmer nationality have the right to own land (Article 44).
The Land Law established in 2001 also states that:
- Limited land ownership in Cambodia to natural groups or corporations of Khmer nationality.
- Foreigners who have forged their identity are punished because they become Cambodian landowners.
- A corporation of Cambodia (Khmer nationality) means a company in which more than 51% of the shares are Cambodian or controlled by a Cambodian company.
- No Cambodian citizen or corporation will be deprived of ownership unless it is in the public interest.
- Deprivation of ownership must be done in advance in accordance with the form and procedure stipulated by law and under fair compensation (Article 5).

-In order to transfer the ownership of movables, the ownership must be unambiguous, violent, and impartial (Article 38).
