Dutch beer Heineken Vietnam releases sustainable business report
The Dutch beer giant releases its 5th Sustainability Report.
Dutch beer giant Heineken released its fifth sustainability report last week. We focus on sustainable business in Vietnam.
Heineken has been expanding its business not only in Vietnam but also globally, aiming for sustainable business.
With “Better Brewing in Vietnam” as our main objective, we uphold “Choosing Green”, which means creating real and sustainable value in Vietnam in all aspects of our business operations.
HEINEKEN VIETNAM IS A SUSTAINABLE COMPANY
Heineken Vietnam focuses on 'Choosing Green' value creation, with a vision of creating benefits for business, communities and the environment, with a focus on making its approach truly sustainable over the long term. .
HEINEKEN VIETNAM was honored as Vietnam's Most Sustainable Company (Manufacturing Sector) for the second year in a row last year, and was named one of the best places to work in Asia by HR Asia magazine. These achievements create value as People, Planet, and Prosperity, and are realized through the efforts of the company and all employees.
Last year, we directly and indirectly employed 166,000 people across our value chain. This represents a 50% increase compared to 2014. In 2018, it accounted for nearly 1% of Vietnam's total GDP.
Heineken Vietnam Recycling
Heineken Vietnam reuses or recycles around 99 percent of its waste and by-products. Four of the six breweries already provide all of their heat energy from carbon-neutral biomass-producing steam, which produces virtually zero carbon dioxide.
*Carbon-free: The idea that the CO2 generated when biomass is burned is absorbed from the atmosphere during the process of plant growth, and the amount of CO2 does not change (zero CO2).
In 2018, we also worked to reduce CO2 emissions in logistics with the aim of reducing CO2 emissions in logistics in order to reduce environmental impact.
HEINEKEN VIETNAM SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS
As an example of creating value for People, Planet and Prosperity as a sustainable business, Heineken Vietnam launched a program to recycle tiger beer bottle caps in 2018 and used the caps to build a new bridge across the Mekong Delta. The program not only helps promote recycling and reduce waste, but also provides essential infrastructure for the community.
Leo Evers, Managing Director of Heineken Vietnam, said: “On our sustainability appeal, we show a concrete policy to 'Better Brewing in Vietnam'. If we can continue to create truly sustainable value, we can have an even greater impact in Vietnam. ”
