26 designers from Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City
Twenty-six famous ao dai designers have joined the 6th Ao Dai Festival in Ho Chi Minh City from March 2 to 17.
The Ao Dai Festival is organized by 15 Miss Universes and famous Vietnamese designers for the event.
The event will take place on Nguyen Hue Walking Street on Saturday night (March 2) with as many as 80 models showing off their new ao dai designs by famous Vietnamese designers including Si Hoang, Lien Huong, Viet Hung, Huu La La and Brian Vo.
On the following Sunday morning, a parade of 3,000 people dressed in ao dai was held on Nguyen Hue Walking Street.
Ho Chi Minh City's Ao Dai Festival: Events held across District 1 and District 9
The event, which aims to celebrate the beauty of the ao dai, will also be accompanied by Charming Ao Dai HCM City 2019 from January 15 to March 3 and The Beautiful Ao Dai, an online photo contest from January 15 to March 10.
From March 2 to 17, an exhibition of ao dai will be held at the Ao dai Museum in District 9 and the Ao dai Exhibition Hall in District 1 in Ho Chi Minh City. Ao dai seminars will also be held during the festival.
According to Nguyen Thian Hoa, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, the organizer of the Ao Dai Festival, the festival is also an event to promote Vietnamese culture and customs as a tourist attraction, combining culture and tourism in Ho Chi Minh City.
At a press conference held yesterday (February 26), Hoa announced that nearly 300 tailor-made shops and fashion stores will offer a 5-50% discount on ao dai in March. It seems that Ho Chi Minh City is calling on local residents to wear ao dai in March.
