projects registered by May 2019, five were by Chinese foreign investors.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E4%B8%AD%E5%9B%BD%E3%81%AE%E3%83%99%E3%83%88%E3%83%8A%E3%83%A0%E3%81%B8%E3%81%AE%E6%8A%95%E8%B3%87%E3%81%AE%E9%87%91%E9%A1%8D\"><\/span>Amount of Chinese investment in Vietnam<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<p>As of May 20, foreign investment capital reached a record $16.74 billion in the past four years, up 69.1% year-on-year, according to Vietnam&#039;s Ministry of Investment Planning&#039;s MPI.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong leads 88 countries and regions, investing $5.08 billion in Vietnam,<span style=\"background-color: #ffff00;\">$3.85 billion goes to Vietnam Beverage<\/span>are allocating.<\/p>\n<p>Investors from mainland China recorded investments worth $2.02 billion, while Taiwanese invested $580 million. As such, Chinese investors have a total investment of $7.8 billion.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E4%B8%AD%E5%9B%BD%E3%81%AE%E3%83%99%E3%83%88%E3%83%8A%E3%83%A0%E3%81%B8%E3%81%AE%E3%81%8D%E3%81%A3%E3%81%8B%E3%81%91\"><\/span><b>China&#039;s entry into Vietnam<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How did China get to Vietnam?<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400; background-color: #ffff00;\">US-China trade war<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The US-China trade war has caused a shift of investment to China. Although China has invested in Vietnam so far, it has remained in the third or fourth place as a foreign investor ranking. On the other hand, only a quarter of the investment capital was invested in new projects. This is aimed at Hong Kong investors mainly making &quot;passive investments&quot; and recovering investment profits in the future through schemes such as stock transfers and M&amp;As.<\/p>\n<h3>Problem | China&#039;s investment in Vietnam<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Economic analysts point out that most of the FDI capital from China is concentrated in textiles, real estate and manufacturing. In addition, we are raising awareness within Vietnam that China&#039;s investment projects have caused problems such as higher costs, pollution, lower quality, and lower technology than originally planned in the past.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%E3%83%99%E3%83%88%E3%83%8A%E3%83%A0%E3%81%8B%E3%82%89%E8%A6%8B%E3%81%9F%E6%B5%B7%E5%A4%96%E3%81%8B%E3%82%89%E3%81%AE%E6%8A%95%E8%B3%87\"><\/span>Foreign investment seen from Vietnam<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/asia-prop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/vietnam-factory.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/asia-prop.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/vietnam-factory.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"417\" height=\"277\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>Vietnam does not seek foreign investment<\/h3>\n<p>Le Cao Doan of the Vietnam Institute of Economic Research points out that unlike 20 years ago, Vietnam is not actively seeking foreign investment today. For 20 years, Vietnam lacked investment capital and was desperate for foreign investment, but not now.<\/p>\n<h3>Vietnam seeks technology and quality, not quantity of investment<\/h3>\n<p>Mr Doan said that although foreign investment capital plays an important role in economic growth, the problem is quality, not quantity.
