Agricultural land and land were dominated by France, along with an unequal tariff system, and farmers were exploited as peasants with heavy labor and heavy taxes. As a French assimilation policy, a French curriculum was introduced in terms of education, and the Chinese characters used so far were prohibited, and instead, only Vietnamese notation using the alphabet was allowed. Nowadays, Vietnamese people who cannot read Chinese characters at all are common. There are 6 Vietnamese tones. A night market is held on the adjacent street where you can enjoy seafood and sake.
